Never work with children or animals...

W.C. Fields once said, "Never work with children or animals". The man makes a good point, however, in BCP's most recent project for Sunnybrook School, I found the kids to be hilarious to work with.

I first met with the Head of Sunnybrook School, Irene Davy, back in May. They wanted to commission a video project that would showcase the production process behind the creation of their end-of-school musical, Willy Wonka. The idea was to show how the students participation in the production was beneficial to both their learning process and overall development.

I spent two days filming at the school. This included getting footage of the rehearsals, choreography sessions, set building and prop creation. The kids were clearly having a great time participating in a project different from their everyday norm. There were also numerous parents helping out in almost every creative facet. Very much a team effort to bring this show together. Was fun to shoot.

The hilarity of the children really came through when I was doing one-on-one interviews with them to hear their thoughts on the process. One little girl claimed this had given her so much self-confidence, she could do a whole one-woman show! She was very cute.

Also filmed the final performance, and put everything together into a DVD package that was sold through the school. The school was happy with the finished product, as was I. I look forward to working with the lovely people of Sunnybrook School in the future.
